Peoria stretches a long way north, and the concrete work changes as you go. The southern parts of the city have older, established housing where replacement work is common. Further north, the newer communities are where we are more often adding a patio, a slab or a parking pad.

South Peoria has decades-old housing and the repair and replacement work that comes with it. North Peoria is newer, with larger lots and yards that owners are still building out. Which part of the city you are in genuinely changes the job.
Bigger lots, more vehicles
Larger northern lots mean room for an RV, a boat or a trailer, and a properly specified pad rather than a patch of granite. Concentrated wheel loads are what those slabs are built for, which makes them a different specification from a driveway.
Slopes and drainage toward the north
Ground on the northern edges is less uniformly flat than the central Valley, and a lot with any fall to it needs the drainage worked out before forms go in. Done properly it is an advantage — water leaves the slab on its own.
Yards being finished after move-in
As in most newer West Valley communities, the concrete tends to go in first when an owner finally takes on the backyard, because the patio and the pads have to exist before anything else can be built around them.

How large should an RV pad be?
Larger than the vehicle itself. You want room to walk around it and, if it has them, room for slide-outs and awnings when they are out. We measure the vehicle and the space together and mark the footprint on the ground so you can see it before anything is formed.
My lot slopes. Is that a problem for a patio?
Not usually — a slope is often easier to work with than a completely flat lot, because water has somewhere to go on its own. It does need working out properly at the grading stage, and on a steeper lot it may mean a step or a small retaining element rather than one continuous slab.
Do you cover both north and south Peoria?
